Yoga Anatomy & Therapy CourseUncover the Art of Body Awareness and Alignment in Yoga

Most professional Teacher Training Programs fail to provide a comprehensive study of the science of the body, often only focusing on some major muscles and joints, some popular movements and perhaps a few stretching techniques. While understanding this is necessary to create a base on which to build, the knowledge of Yoga Anatomy is not limited to this.

It’s a giant subject that requires a great deal of study with a more practical approach, which, when mastered, can completely transform your yoga practice through improved awareness, alignment, and safety. As a teacher, your classes will become a safe space for students to realise their potential and individuality. As a practitioner, your progress will be motivated by learning how to apply anatomy on the mat.

Benefits Of Yoga Anatomy & Therapy Course

  • Awareness of the body:

Understanding muscle activation and joint mobility helps develop a strong sense of proprioception, allowing the body to move with less restriction and more confidence. It also fosters a strong mind-body connection, internalising one’s awareness of the body's sensations.

  • Injury prevention:

Most injuries result from a lack of connection with the body, pushing our limits uncontrolled. When we know our body’s potential and limitations, we can explore any posture without being at risk of an injury.

  • Increased Alignment:

Every individual is different! How an asana looks on one person doesn’t necessarily have to feel aligned with another. Understanding the structure of one’s body allows us to personalise our practice in a way that feels correct and comfortable, receiving the benefits of an asana with maximum freedom.

  • Practising with intention:

Many muscles achieve any asana with the combination of flexibility, strength, and endurance. Knowing what muscles to engage gives one the choice of getting various benefits from the same posture and allows targeting specific areas individually.

  • Precise Cuing:

A skilled teacher teaches with a simplicity that cannot be misunderstood or difficult to follow. When your cues are informed by anatomy, you can guide your students

  • It’s better to know:

It’s always better to know than not! Knowledge instils confidence because you know what you are doing. You experience the body instead of simply remembering facts about it.
